Dylan Henry Jones - Month 5

Wednesday - 18Jul12
The route of the sponsored ride has been defined.  The route is a total of about 170 miles spread over two days.  The overnight stop will be in Bridgnorth which has strong links with the Mother's side of the family.  The split is roughly 74 miles the first day and 94 the second but more climbing on the first day.  There'll be two drinks\food stops each day.

Each days route can be found in more detail using the following links.

So far there are two definites (including me) and a few maybes as well as a few volunteer support crew ...

Even Cats love Lamaze ...
Yay.  Because we had a small milk crisis over the holiday (we didn't take enough), Dylan ended up not having a bottle for two nights (not successive).  Now he's decided that he doesn't like bottles.  At all.  He's also decided that he doesn't like sleeping longer than 3 hours at a time.  Even overnight.   We're get the feeling that he thinks milk tastes better at night.

His weight is also dropping off.  It's barely moved in two weeks.  This maybe because he's been more unsettled over the last week or so and using more than his fair share of calories or just one of those things.  Either way  a number of suggestions have been made so that his calorific intake is increased: the trick will be in getting it into him.  Cream teas for the Mother probably isn't the answer!

One blissed-out baby :)

Dylan and Dad on the limestone pavement at Malham.  Not sure about the colour of that sky though... and where's the rain?

A decision has been made!

Over the weekend of September 8th 2012 there will be a sponsored bike ride between New Mills and Bristol in order to raise money for CDH UK and Ronald McDonald House (Bristol).

It is likely to take place over two days: one day shorter than the other.  Part of the reason is the distance involved expecially when trying to avoid cycling through Birmingham but mostly so that there is a greater chance of more people joining us for one or both days.  Yes, that is a hint!  Please drop us a line if you'd like to come along either as support or to join in.

Many more details to follow (incl. links to justgiving or equivalent sites), proposed route and more details as to the charities.

The charity decision has been quite hard as we owe a lot to St Michaels Hospital and SNICU at Musgrove Park.   Donating to 4 charities from a single event didn't seem to be the right thing to do (to us).  We will no doubt either be involved with or organise further events in order to raise funds for them.   St Michaels does has a very well organised fundraising machine (www.grandappeal.org.uk) from which we have already had benefit - the room in which Dylan stayed was brand new paid for by funds raised by the appeal.

An observation: Just like every cyclist knows that no matter which way the wind appears to be going it is nearly always against the direction that they are going in,  even if it's a circular route.  So it can be equally assured that should baby decide to kick off then it will be either when making dinner or about to eat it and simultaneously the cat will decide it also wants attention (food) and the phone will ring.

To whom should I address the sacrifice in order to reverse this trend?
